Frequently Asked Questions

A healthcare hackathon is an event in which people with diverse perspectives such as clinicians, engineers, designers, software developers, business people, and patients come together in an intense, fun-filled, three-day weekend to develop and build solutions that could address challenges facing healthcare today. Participants will form teams, collaborate within a limited time frame, and focus on a specific problem or idea in healthcare to come up with innovative ideas and solutions.

UIMSAHack 2023 will hold from 17th March 2023 to 19th March 2023.

UIMSAHack 2023 will hold at Ibadan Business School, Francis Okediji Street, Off Awolowo Avenue, Ibadan.

There’ll be at least two interactive one-hour workshops to introduce participants to the subject of the hackathon and to particular technical and problem-solving skills useful for the hackathon.

UIMSAHack 2023 will run in two rounds:

      The Preliminary or Ideas Round where participants will submit their best ideas for apps, extensions, policies or processes to solve problems around the theme. Sixteen (16) highest-scoring submitters will be selected to move on to the Build Round.
      The Final or Build Round where qualified participants from the Ideas Round will be invited to develop their ideas and pitch their solutions.

      Participants must enter as teams of 3-4 members
      Participants must be over eighteen (18) years of age and registered students at any Nigerian university
      Each team must comprise at least one medical student
      While ideas can be preconceived, projects must be developed during the Build Round (9 am, 17th March 2023 - 9 am, 19th March 2023)

  • Best Solution - N300, 000, a plaque, and continued development of solution with a partner accelerator
  • First runner-up - N200, 000 and a plaque
  • Second runner-up - N100, 000 and a plaque
  • All participants - Certificate of participation and event swag

  • All competitors will be allocated the same amount of time to hack
  • All submissions must be created at the hackathon; bringing prototypes/ beta versions is strictly prohibited
  • All participating teams must have a presentation at the end of the hackathon to qualify for completion
  • All ideas, prototypes, artefacts, and products birthed from UIMSAHack belong to the development team
  • Members of the UIMSAHack planning committee are unable to participate in the hackathon
